Who is this for?
This Level 1 training is for yoga teachers, coaches, healthcare professionals, and any students with the curiosity and desire to experience the transformative power of Kundalini yoga. You absolutely do not need to be a yoga teacher to fully participate in this unforgettable immersion! Nor do you need to have any experience with Kundalini yoga.
An immersion is a practice intensive with a focus on your personal growth and renewal as human beings because this, after all, is the wellspring of everything else that we do in life! You can expect 3 practices per day that are carefully curated to provide an exquisite balance of activity and rest. In other words, you will not just be doing kundalini all day long! Rather there will be a blend of many different styles incorporated into your days including myofascial release, hatha, vinyasa, gentle, restorative, yoga nidra, and more.
An immersion is about you having an experience with the practice rather than about theory or teaching methodology. (That comes later in the Level 2 Intensive.). There will be an emphasis on self-reflection and self-exploration through journalling and contemplation, and on deep interpersonal connection through sharing, partner and group exercises and discussion. The 6-night/7-day in-person experience will be supplemented by supplemental online learning resources after the training is over that will deepen your appreciation of the reach of Kundalini yoga and allow you to continue your practice.
Those of you who are teachers will receive 50 hours of continuing education credit (40 hours in-person and 10 hours on-line) which can be applied towards a 500-hour yoga teacher certification or a 1000-hour yoga therapy certification with Caroline. These 50 hours are Yoga Alliance-approved and can also simply be used towards the 30 hours of Continuing Education credit that are required every three years for those of you who are registered teachers with Yoga Alliance.
What is Kundalini?
The word “Kundalini” means many things. At the simplest level, kundalini simply refers to the power of awareness. As a practice, Kundalini refers to a specific style of yoga that incorporates breath, movement, mudra (special hand gestures), and mantra (chants) to accelerate healing, personal growth, and positive change in your life. Kundalini is incredible! It’s fun, it’s wild, it’s provocative, it’s profoundly beautiful, and it’s undeniably transformative. I found no other practice that can lead me to a place of such reverberating stillness and silence inside. And if you know me, then you know that is saying a lot! Because I have a very busy mind and have a hard time being still!
My approach to kundalini is post-lineage and non-dogmatic. I believe passionately in creating a safe and inclusive atmosphere that allows each individual to cultivate his or her own authentic path of practice while held in the embrace of a loving community. Modifications, props, choices to rest are honored and deeply encouraged.
What to expect
Lulu and I have created this intimate experience for a group of 6-13 students who are ready to join us for a profoundly deep dive of self-exploration and interpersonal connection. I can absolutely promise you that this immersion will ask you to step outside of your comfort zone while at the same time knowing that you are held and supported at the deepest possible level. You can expect a lot of silliness, fun, and laughter. And it’s reasonable to expect that there may also be tears, breakthroughs, and the knowledge that you are touching into untapped layers of possibility and freedom within yourself. Lulu and I will be accompanying you every step of the way making sure that each individual is seen, heard, celebrated, loved and cared for.
The location is truly magical – a peaceful sanctuary designed for reconnection and rejuvenation. You will be wrapped in comfort – elegant rooms, nourishing food, and thoughtful touches everywhere. During your free time, you can relax by the pool, wander through the forest on trails that are directly accessible from the property or explore the French countryside if you so desire. Please note that since this is an immersion, and our days will be full, the focus of this trip will not be sightseeing. However, our wonderful venue host, Ming-Lie, will gladly help to coordinate excursions for our group. For example, if you wish to visit the legendary Chateaux of the Loire Valley or visit the local vineyards, you are most welcome to!
